Conquering the Running World

Last weekend I went down to Bournemouth with the family, to attend the Bournemouth Marathon Festival. I didn’t actually do the marathon but I did do the 10K event, whereas my dad did the 10K and the marathon (crazy man).


I’ve really got into running recently, as you could tell by the fact that I do a ParkRun every Saturday. My goal is to do the Southampton half marathon which is about 6 months away, so plenty of time to train. If anyone has a good plan or regime that I should follow please let me know!


I find that many people say they “just can’t get in to running” which I can totally get. After being at uni for 2 years I realised how unfit I had become, so I set myself a challenge. I don’t know if I will achieve it, but at least I have a goal. I see running as sort of therapy where I can just think about life or just not think at all. I think we all need an outlet where we can use up the preserved energy and let lose. When I was a child I had dancing lessons twice a week and sometimes even 3 times a week. I really missed that when I went to uni, but now I have another outlet.


I’d strongly advise getting in to some form of activity, it doesn’t have to be running, but just something that can occupy your mind or body to give yourself a break from the outside world.
